Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has today on Friday officially opened the ongoing Machakos ASK South Eastern Kenya National Show at Machakos showground, accompanied by her DG Francis Mwangangi, top County officials among them CECMs, MCAs among many other leaders.
During her address, Governor Wavinya Ndeti said their collective approach in embracing innovative solutions to combat the growing threats of climate change and global warming on agricultural activities remains on course.
The Agricultural Show official opening ceremony had brought together farmers, exhibitors, stakeholders, and students from various schools across the Lower Eastern region.
"Crop diversification, water resource management, agroforestry, biodiversity management, supporting our farmers with farm inputs, construction of modern markets, slaughter houses, livestock sale yards, fish markets and aggregation centres are some of the notable investments my government is undertaking to support climate smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth" said Governor Wavinya Ndeti
Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi noted that Machakos Vision of CHAKULA MEZANI, PESA MFUKONI, is geared towards enhancing food security and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth , revealing that climate smart agriculture is the way to go.
Agriculture Minister Catherine Mutanu was impressed by this year's ASK National Show, revealing that it was educative and full of creative solutions, lining up with climate smart agriculture.
Mutanu vowed to make sure that farmers in Machakos get fully supported as one way of enhancing economic growth in Machakos County.
