In a significant push for community development, Mbooni MP Hon. Kivasu Nzioka today distributed Uwezo Fund cheques worth Ksh. 4.1 million to 28 self-help groups drawn from across the constituency. The event, held at Tawa Social Hall, attracted local leaders, beneficiaries, and residents who gathered to witness the impactful initiative aimed at improving livelihoods and fostering entrepreneurship.
Out of the total disbursement, 12 groups received Ksh. 0.83 million in new funding, while 16 groups were granted Ksh. 3.27 million as refinancing to boost their existing ventures. The initiative is set to enhance the economic capacity of the groups, with a focus on promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and facilitating community-driven projects.
During his address, Hon. Kivasu reiterated his commitment to uplifting the living standards of the people of Mbooni. He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds responsibly and engage in projects that will create employment and drive economic progress within the constituency.
He also took the opportunity to address political matters, stressing that the current period should be focused on delivering services and meaningful development, rather than engaging in early political campaigns. “There will be time for politics, but that time is not now. Let’s concentrate on building our communities and working for the people,” he said, dismissing early political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event concluded with group representatives expressing gratitude for the support, promising to channel the funds into productive ventures. The disbursement marks a continued effort by the MP to empower local communities through various programs, including Uwezo Fund, and aligns with his broader vision of fostering sustainable development in Mbooni Constituency.
