MACHAKOS MCAs URGED TO STRENGTHEN OVERSIGHT FOR BETTER GOVERNANCE

Machakos County MCAs have been called upon to fully exercise their oversight role to ensure transparency and accountability in governance. Speaking from his office in Machakos Town, former Mwala Parliamentary Aspirant and Chairman of Contractors in Machakos County, Kilei Mutinda (Barckleih), emphasized the critical role MCAs play in safeguarding public interests.

Kilei noted that as representatives of the people, MCAs must remain vigilant and hold the county executive accountable to prevent mismanagement of public resources.
“The people elected you to be their eyes and voices in the assembly. It is your duty to ensure that public funds are properly utilized and that service delivery is prioritized,” he said.

He further urged them to stay true to their constitutional mandate by actively engaging in legislative processes that promote good governance.

His sentiments come at a time when concerns are being raised about laxity among some MCAs, with allegations of poor oversight leading to stalled projects and financial misappropriation in the county.
