Hon. Daniel Ngao Criticizes Mass Political Rallies, Calls for Work-Oriented Citizenry

Former Mutituni/Ngelani Ward MCA aspirant Hon. Daniel Ngao has sparked debate with his remarks on political rallies, asserting that their size should not be mistaken for influence or public affection. Instead, he suggests that a truly progressive society would see fewer attendees at such gatherings, as the majority of citizens would be engaged in productive work.

"As a leader, I will celebrate when we shall have a minute number of citizens attending political rallies because the majority will be very busy working," Hon. Ngao stated.
He further argued that large political gatherings often signify a populace that has been manipulated or remains idle due to economic challenges.

"Having mammoth rallies can never be a sign of influence or an indicator of being loved, but rather a pointer to a brainwashed and idle citizenry," he added.

His remarks have drawn mixed reactions from different political quarters and the public. Some agree with his perspective, seeing it as a call for greater economic empowerment and reduced political theatrics, while others view it as dismissive of the role that political engagement plays in a democratic society.
Hon. Ngao’s statement comes at a time when political rallies continue to attract large crowds, especially in the run-up to elections. His views add to the ongoing discussion on the balance between political participation and economic productivity.
