WAVINYA CALLS FOR DIALOGUE AS MACHAKOS BUDGET IMPASSE THREATENS SERVICE DELIVERY

Machakos Governor Hon. Wavinya Ndeti has called on Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to embrace dialogue and urgently resolve the prolonged impasse surrounding the FY 2026/2027 budget, warning that political differences should not interfere with essential county services.

Governor Wavinya said her administration remains fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted service delivery and safeguarding the interests of Machakos residents despite the ongoing budget stalemate.
Addressing the Media at Machakos WhiteHouse today, the Governor urged all MCAs to set aside political differences, engage in constructive dialogue and work towards a consensus that will allow the county government to effectively discharge its responsibilities.

“I have done this before, and I will not tire in seeking consensus for the sake of Machakos,” Wavinya said, emphasizing the need for leaders to put the interests of residents ahead of political differences.

She noted that the prolonged budget impasse has wider implications for the county, particularly the delivery of essential public services, payment of county staff salaries and implementation of development programmes.
Wavinya stressed that disagreements between the Executive and Assembly should not come at the expense of ordinary residents who depend on county services in their daily lives.
The Governor's appeal comes amid continued uncertainty over the FY 2026/2027 county budget, with pressure mounting on county leaders to find common ground and unlock the financial framework required to facilitate government operations and development activities.

She reaffirmed her willingness to engage with the Assembly and other stakeholders in pursuit of a negotiated solution, maintaining that cooperation and consensus remain critical to moving Machakos forward.

Governor Wavinya said the ultimate responsibility of county leaders is to serve the people, urging MCAs to prioritize the welfare of Machakos residents and ensure that political differences do not derail service delivery and development.
