The Cabinet Secretary Hon. Alice Wahome and Principal Secretary Hon. Nixon Korir received land policy recommendations from The National Land Commission led by the Chairperson Mr. Gershom Otachi and the CEO Ms. Kabale Tache Arero and in the presence of NLC Commissioners.

These recommendations will form the basis for the review and development of National Land Policy, 2023.

The Sessional Paper No 3 of 2009 on National Land Policy has been in place. It has been guiding the country towards achieving efficient, sustainable and equitable use of land. However, the Policy is a living document that requires review every 10 years to take into account current, emerging and future dynamics in the land sector.

The Ministry will spearhead the review and development of the National Land Policy but the formulation process will be consultative and participatory. The Ministry will continue to work very closely with stakeholders, specifically the National Land Commission, Development Partners, Civil Society, Academia, professional bodies, Non-State Actors and key stakeholders to enhance the recommendations from the commission.

The Ministry has targeted to complete the policy review and development process by end of this financial year. This will include public participation, submission to Cabinet for approval and submission to Parliament for debate.
