Teething is the process where an infant’s teeth erupt through the gums. This can lead to various symptoms, such as mild fussiness and discomfort.
Addressing the Media on Wednesday at Machakos Social Hall during their training exercise for Machakos Community Health Promoters, Kinga Africa CEO and Founder - Francis Muthama, urged parents to observe high levels of hygiene during teething in babies to avoid many unnecessary effects.
Muthama's mission is to give children healthy smiles.
The common perception among dentists is that teething in babies and children may be accompanied by increased drooling, a slight rise in temperature, and perhaps increased irritability, but these symptoms are relatively minor. Teething and diarrhoea are not usually associated, according to Muthama

"Symptoms of a teething infant are numerous: crying, biting, drooling, gagging, being irritable, rubbing cheeks, pulling ears, refusing to eat. But having diarrhoea? That, dear parents, is a myth, " said Muthama
Through Francis Muthama- Kinga Africa - a non-profitable organisation trained Machakos Community Health Promoters ( CHPs ) on Oral Health.
Muthama asked the Community Health Promoters to spread the real facts on "Teething" to parents, indeed guiding them to always warn parents on considering 'Traditional Teething Herbalists' , saying that they risk the lives of babies.
The training is set to cover all the eight Machakos Sub-counties , to help sensitize parents on Hygienic Levels During Teething Period For babies.
Moreover, according to Muthama;
"What will save the health of many of our community members in Africa is Community based health programs that are preventive and promotive in nature. We are empowering community health promoters to support primary and universal healthcare services"
So far, 5,099,447 children have been reached by Kinga Africa community outreach programs.
Kinga Africa aim is to prevent future generations from making negative health choices, thus improving their quality of life.Promotes oral health especially among children in less privileged communities.
The Need for Kinga Africa
Kinga Africa was established because of the great need for education, particularly among children about health issues in Kenya.
