Machakos County Executive Committee Member (CEC-M) for Water, Irrigation, Sanitation, and Climate Change, Catherine Mutanu, has advised motorists in the county to avoid driving across flooded rivers caused by flash floods during this unpredictable rainy season.
The CEC-M expressed concern about reckless drivers who hastily cross flooded rivers, putting themselves and passengers at risk. Waziri Mutanu urged parents to be extra vigilant and instruct their children to refrain from swimming in dams, ponds, or flooded rivers to prevent accidents.
Speaking to the media at her office, the Minister mentioned that the department, under the initiatives of Governor Wavinya Ndeti, will launch season two of massive tree planting in all 40 wards of Machakos County, contributing to the efforts to achieve the target of planting 15 billion trees.
In conclusion, the CEC-M encouraged Machakos residents to harvest rainwater at their homes, to compliment the Governor's initiatives to enhance water and food security in Machakos.
