Former Machakos Gubernatorial Candidate Nzioka Waita has called on the GenZs to register as voters when the National registration exercise kicks off.
Waita said that it is through the process that they can actively participate in the country's decision-making.
Nzioka Waita told the GenZs that their voter’s cards will give them the authority to put in place a government that will address their issues and aspirations.
" I call on you GenZs to register as voters to be able to rally behind a government that will define your destiny" - said Nzioka Waita
"Kwanza mimi nataka kuhimiza watu wetu wajitokeza hasa vijana wakati huu wachukue kura manake kuna sababu ya kuchukua kura. The vote is the only way that we can use to elect our leaders. Kura ndiyo itaamua ni nani atashika hatamu ya utawala katika taifa letu"
According to Nzioka Waita, from his engagements with GenZ’s / millennials,his casual observations are that if the GenZ’s register as voters then two things are almost certain:
1) The entire political elite that are either graduates or alumni of the Moi school of politics will be out of contention for the leadership of Kenya;
2) The job of public service in whatever capacity will be a calling of duty & not a commercial venture.
Waita also asked the GenZs to seek elective positions to enable them embark on a journey of making meaningful gains for themselves and the country.
“Youths in the past have been used for political scores but I am happy to say that the youth today are elites who are able change their destiny through voting for capable leaders, Waita added.
Waita said that youth will continue to be supported in order to maximize on their potential and become the country’s pillar of economic development.
According to Waita, many young people are trapped by unemployment aspect and end up being manipulated easily by politicians into violence and crime.
From his recent tweets on X, Waita asked elected leaders to remain accountable and work fruitfully for the electorates
"GenZ’s wa Macha kaeni ngangari! Masaa ya kuchukua hio serekali inakaribia… hakuna kubembelezana na wezi, wazembe na wafisadi!! Elected leaders work for the people & must remain accountable to them always"
