The installation of street lights in Katangi Market, Kithimani Market, and Matuu Market is now underway in Yatta Constituency, marking a significant milestone in boosting the local economy and enhancing security.
This development follows the determined lobbying efforts of Yatta MP, Hon. Robert Basil, who had earlier hosted Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, the Chairperson of the Budget Committee and Kiharu MP, at Ikombe Parish. During their meeting, Hon. Basil emphasized the urgent need for infrastructure improvements in Yatta’s key markets, which has now led to the realization of the street lighting project.
Hon. Basil, well known for his proactive leadership and strong connections, advocated for the installation of street lights in major markets within Yatta to allow traders to extend business hours and promote a safer environment. Katangi, Kithimani, Matuu, and Kisiiki are among the key markets identified for this initiative.
The ongoing installation reflects his commitment to delivering tangible development projects for his constituents, having previously made this promise to the people of Yatta. The street lights will not only provide much-needed illumination but also encourage economic growth by attracting more business activities to these markets.
Beyond the markets, Hon. Basil is also exploring expanding this project to other areas such as residential neighborhoods and access roads, aiming for a more comprehensive solution to address security concerns and increase nighttime mobility. His team is collaborating with the Ministry of Energy to ensure the efficient completion of this project, which aligns with his broader agenda for infrastructural and economic development.
The enhanced security will foster confidence among traders and residents, reducing crime and making the area more vibrant during the night. This, in turn, is expected to spur further investments in these areas, as business owners will feel safer to operate beyond normal business hours.
MP Robert Basil continues to demonstrate his ability to secure crucial resources for Yatta, working tirelessly to ensure the constituency remains on a steady path toward development. The installation of street lights is just one among many projects in the pipeline, as Hon. Basil remains focused on improving the lives of his constituents through practical solutions.
With the project already underway, Yatta's major markets are set to transform into bustling hubs of activity, driving the local economy forward and creating a safer, more prosperous community for all.
