In a bold statement at a burial ceremony in Kavumbu village, Kambi ya Ndeke sub-location, Yatta MP Hon. Robert Basil openly called out fellow leaders who, he claims, have been taking credit for his hard-earned development projects to gain political mileage. Addressing mourners yesterday in Kithimani Ward, Hon. Basil urged leaders to focus on their own mandated duties rather than attributing his achievements to themselves.
Hon. Basil expressed frustration over a recent incident involving the installation of street lights in Kithimani and Matuu markets. He explained that after lobbying for the project at the national government level, some leaders quickly arrived on-site to take photos, misleading residents into believing the street lights were a result of their own efforts.
Additionally, Hon. Basil shared plans for a new Huduma Centre in Kithimani, making him the first MP to establish such a facility within the constituency.
This initiative aims to save residents both time and travel costs by eliminating the need to go to Machakos for essential government services.
Furthermore, Basil has facilitated the construction of a land registry office in Kithimani, ensuring that land records for Yatta and Masinga residents will soon be transferred from Machakos to Kithimani, providing a much-needed solution to ongoing land issues in the region.
