Baraka Technical College in Sofia, Kithimani Ward, Yatta, Machakos County, hosted a vibrant graduation ceremony yesterday for its 2024 graduating class. The event drew notable guests, including MCSK CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, Yatta MP Hon. Robert Basil, Mr. Solomon Omboto of Myogenic Africa Talent Academy, Bishop Gedion Mbithi, and the Baraka family, led by Bishop John Katundu.
Dr. Mutua shared an inspiring message of resilience, urging the graduates to embrace faith and positivity as they navigate a world filled with challenges. Drawing from the biblical story of Joshua and Caleb in Numbers 13, he encouraged them to adopt a mindset that sees potential and possibility even in the face of adversity. “At a time when the world is so negative and toxic, we can adopt a different spirit of being positive, confident, and seeing opportunities where others see giants and challenges," he said, adding, "With God, we are well able despite the challenges in the world. If God be for us, who can be against us?”
The graduates were also motivated by remarks from MP Basil and Mr. Omboto, who highlighted the importance of technical skills and self-belief in shaping the future. The ceremony concluded with a celebration that included performances by local artists, symbolizing the blend of faith, community support, and determination that marked the graduates' journey.
Mr. Solomon Omboto, a former U.S. Army officer and the founder of Myogenic Africa Talent Academy, pledged to connect graduates with valuable opportunities both locally and internationally, enabling them to leverage their technical skills for sustainable livelihoods.
Recognizing the importance of infrastructure to support learning, he also committed to funding the institution's borehole project, a solution that would permanently address the ongoing water challenges. His support is set to boost both the students’ prospects and the institution's capacity.
