The dam, which is the fourth in a series of twelve planned dams—two for each of Kibwezi West’s six wards—marks a significant milestone in the constituency’s irrigation efforts. The project, facilitated by President William Ruto’s administration through the National Irrigation Authority, aims to improve household irrigation and boost agricultural productivity.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Mutuse expressed gratitude to President Ruto for supporting the initiative. He emphasized that the dam would transform the socio-economic landscape of the area by enhancing food security and increasing household incomes.
“Asanteni sana Vololo, Yikivumbu, Kanyililia, Matutu, and all Nguu/Masumba residents for turning up in large numbers. We are changing Kibwezi West to remain the best,” said Hon. Mutuse.
The irrigation project is expected to benefit thousands of local farmers, reinforcing the government’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
