Utini Primary School has undergone a major transformation, with three classrooms modernized through a community-led project, a move hailed as a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of self-managed development initiatives.
With a budget of Ksh. 1.8 million, the local community successfully replaced the classrooms' roofs, installed new windows and doors, tiled floors, fitted electrical systems, plastered the walls, and applied quality paint. Remarkably, after the comprehensive renovation, some materials remained, reflecting prudent management of resources.
Speaking during the project inspection, Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse commended the Project Management Committee for their dedication and efficiency in delivering high-quality work.
"The project at Utini Primary is the clearest testimony of the fruits of the people managing projects for themselves. I am very pleased with the quality of work done, and I congratulate the team for their excellent job," said Mutuse.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to development centered on people’s participation, emphasizing that his leadership focuses on practical solutions that directly benefit citizens.
"My politics are based on real pro-people approaches to development and service delivery. Mbele ni SHWARI," he concluded.
The successful completion of the Utini Primary project serves as a model for community-driven development, showcasing the impact of well-managed public funds in improving educational infrastructure.
