Former Machakos gubernatorial aspirant Nzioka Waita has urged elected leaders to uphold mutual respect and concentrate on service delivery instead of engaging in constant blame games.
Waita, who spoke on Sunday while attending service at Salvation Army Kithiminani in Matungulu sub-county, said the culture of pointing fingers was derailing development and eroding public trust in leadership.
“Leaders must learn to respect one another regardless of their political affiliations. Blame games are a waste of time. The people want development, not excuses,” said Waita.
He emphasized that every leader has a mandate to fulfill, and hiding behind accusations only proves lack of commitment.
“Once you are elected, it’s no longer about who supported you or who didn’t. It’s about delivering on your promises. Blaming others for sympathy is a sign of weakness,” he added.
Waita noted that unity among leaders, especially at the county level, was essential for progress and peaceful coexistence.
“The electorate is watching. They will judge us by our actions, not our words. Let’s rise above petty politics and focus on service to the people,” he said.
The former Chief of Staff in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration was warmly received by congregants and local leaders who attended the Easter celebration, where he also called for love, peace, and reflection during the season.
