DG Mwangangi Calls for Honest Review of National Leadership and Economic Policies

Machakos Deputy Governor Hon. Francis Mwangangi has called on the country's leadership to conduct an honest and sober evaluation of the state of Kenya’s politics and economy, urging a shift towards integrity-driven governance that prioritizes the needs of citizens.

Speaking during a public forum in Machakos, Hon. Mwangangi emphasized that the character and commitment of leaders form the strength of any nation. He decried the current situation where, despite high taxes, Kenyans continue to suffer from poor service delivery and a rising cost of living.

“The high taxes Kenyans are paying do not amount to quality services, making life unbearable for most citizens,” said Mwangangi. “This is not just an economic concern—it is a leadership issue.”

The Deputy Governor further pointed out the deteriorating public trust in institutions, including the presidency, as a critical signal that the government must urgently rethink its decisions and policies.

“The weakened trust in public institutions is a wake-up call to the government. It must realign its actions to reflect the true aspirations and needs of the people,” he stated.

He urged the current broad-based government arrangement to uphold integrity and fairness, noting that advancing the people’s agenda is not merely a political choice but a constitutional duty.

“If Kenya is to move forward, leaders must adhere to the principles of integrity, fairness, and service to the people,” Mwangangi added.

His remarks come amid growing public discontent over increased taxation, inflation, and governance concerns across the country. The Deputy Governor's sentiments echo the voices of many Kenyans calling for accountable, transparent, and citizen-centered leadership.
