Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has been ranked the second-best performing governor in Kenya in the just-released Mizani Africa Voter's Choice Awards 2025.
The prestigious recognition, which was announced during a colorful ceremony today, celebrates outstanding leadership and excellence in public service across the country. Governor Wavinya, who could not attend the event in person, was ably represented by the County Secretary and Head of Public Service Dr. Muya Ndambuki, and CECM for Education Dr. Consolata Mutisya.
In her message of appreciation, Governor Wavinya dedicated the award to the people of Machakos County, saying they are the reason she wakes up stronger every day to serve.
"This award is a celebration of visionary leadership and public service. It is a promise for a better tomorrow for all of us. I dedicate it to you, my people of Machakos. Through our development mantra Chakula mezani, Pesa mfukoni, we have deliberately focused on food security, socio-economic empowerment, and infrastructure development," said the Governor.
Wavinya’s administration has gained national attention for its inclusive governance approach, strategic investments in agriculture, education, health, and empowerment programs targeting women and youth.
The Mizani Africa Awards are based on public opinion polls and are meant to recognize leaders whose work has had tangible impact on the lives of the citizens.
As the celebrations continue across Machakos, Governor Wavinya has reaffirmed her commitment to delivering transformative development and making Machakos a model county in Kenya.
“Asanteni sana for your trust and support,” she said.
