PS TERESIA MBAIKA LAUNCHES KYETULI DAM IN KILUNGU, PROMISES RELIABLE WATER ACCESS FOR RESIDENTS

Principal Secretary Teresia Mbaika has officially launched the construction of the Kyetuli Dam in Kilungu Ward, Kaiti Constituency, in a move aimed at improving access to clean and reliable water for thousands of households.

Addressing residents during the launch, PS Mbaika described the project as a game-changer that will boost agricultural productivity, support livestock keeping, and provide water for domestic use—contributing significantly to food security and economic empowerment in the area.

“This is a project that is set to transform the livelihoods of the community by providing reliable water access for agriculture, domestic use, and livestock,” said Mbaika. “It stands as a testament to collaborative efforts aimed at sustainable development and improving the quality of life within our communities.”
The dam, which is 7 meters deep and measures 150 by 100 meters, is expected to hold up to 55 million cubic litres of water. It will also create job opportunities for local residents during construction and future operations.

PS Mbaika urged the community to take ownership of the project and safeguard it for future generations. She was accompanied by the Chairman of the National Irrigation Authority, Eng. Gilbert Maluki, who committed to ensuring that the dam is built to the highest standards.
The Kyetuli Dam project is part of the government’s BETA agenda and reflects a unified, whole-of-government approach to service delivery and sustainable development.
