Kyee Mbatha Honoured With ICN Global Impact Award for Environmental Leadership

Kyee Mbatha, the Chairperson of the Conservation Committee at the Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Authority, has been honoured with the ICN Life of Impact Award for his exemplary work in environmental conservation and sustainable resource management.

The international recognition was conferred during a high-level ceremony held at the Trademark Hotel in Nairobi on Thursday evening. The award is issued by the U.S.-based I Change Nations (ICN) Organization, led by Dr. Clyde Rivers, to individuals making significant humanitarian and transformational contributions across the world.
Mbatha was recognized for spearheading impactful community-driven initiatives in Makueni County, especially in promoting responsible sand harvesting and environmental stewardship.

The ceremony brought together diplomats, global envoys, civil society leaders and changemakers from around the world, all celebrated for their efforts in driving lasting change within their communities.
“This award not only recognizes Mr. Mbatha’s personal dedication, but it also elevates Makueni’s conservation model to the global stage,” read a statement from the Authority.

The Authority extended gratitude to partners and supporters who have walked the journey alongside Mbatha, noting that such recognition reflects the power of grassroots leadership in advancing sustainable development goals.

With this recognition, Mbatha joins a distinguished list of global ICN honorees that includes world leaders, First Ladies, peace advocates and renowned philanthropists.
