Speaking on a local Kamba radio station, Dr. Ndambuki said the county has become an attractive destination for investors, thanks to a business-friendly environment. “Governor Wavinya has always maintained that Machakos is the place to invest — and we are seeing that confidence reflected in the growth of businesses here,” he noted.
On the flagship programme Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni, Dr. Ndambuki explained that the county has embarked on the construction of weirs in all wards to enhance irrigation and boost water supply. He added that agricultural extension officers are actively supporting farmers in crop management and livestock improvement to ensure quality breeds.In the education sector, the County Secretary commended the expansion of ECDE facilities and vocational training through the Machakos Youth Service, noting the Milk Feeding Programme in ECDE centres has significantly increased pupil enrolment.
Road infrastructure has also seen notable upgrades, with major works undertaken on the Katangi–Kithimani, Kathalani–Kaviani–Isyukoni, and Kincar–Airways roads, alongside grading of multiple ward roads to improve access to markets.On healthcare, Dr. Ndambuki confirmed that the county is pushing towards the completion of the new Level 6 Hospital at Machakos City Centre and remains committed to addressing the ongoing national nurses’ strike.
He urged the national government to accelerate the full devolution of resources and services, saying citizens have greater trust in counties to deliver.
