Dr. Daniel Yumbya has officially exited his position as Chairperson of the Board of Management (BOM) at Kathiani Girls’ High School after completing two impactful terms. Though his official farewell is yet to be held, his contribution to the school’s rise in stature is undeniable.
When Dr. Yumbya joined the BOM in 2019, Kathiani Girls had a mean KCSE score of 6.63. Under his strategic leadership and strong commitment to academic excellence, the school’s performance steadily improved—reaching a peak mean score of 9.12 in 2022. In 2024, the school recorded a solid mean score of 8.14, maintaining its place among the top-performing schools in Machakos County for three consecutive years.
His tenure was also marked by major infrastructural development, including the construction of modern classrooms, a fully equipped Home Science laboratory,a bakery that was commissioned recently and a state-of-the-art library. Several projects started under his leadership remain in progress.
Dr. Yumbya is also praised for strengthening school governance, mobilizing resources, and fostering positive engagement with stakeholders. He championed a culture of discipline, innovation, and holistic education through co-curricular excellence.
As Kathiani Girls charts a new path, the foundation laid by Dr. Yumbya continues to shape its journey of excellence.
