GOVERNOR WAVINYA NETS MAJOR WIN FOR MACHAKOS FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT

Machakos County has scored a decisive victory in its quest to become a football powerhouse after Governor Wavinya Ndeti officially handed over the title deed for land designated for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Technical Centre at the New City.

The momentous handover took place today when FKF President Hussein Mohammed paid Governor Wavinya a courtesy call at her office. The allocation marks a critical step in laying the foundation for a modern football training and development hub in the region.

Governor Wavinya hailed the move as a historic milestone for sports in Machakos, saying the facility will not only raise the standards of football but also create avenues for youth to grow their talent and compete on bigger stages.

“This centre will serve players, coaches, referees, and the wider football community. It will provide a platform for our youth to sharpen their skills, compete at higher levels, and proudly represent Machakos on national and international stages,” she affirmed.

The Governor emphasised that sports development remains a key pillar of her administration, noting that investment in youth talent is also an investment in the county’s future.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed lauded Machakos County for its unwavering support to football, promising close collaboration to fast-track the project’s implementation. He said the centre will be equipped with modern infrastructure and professional training programmes to transform how football is developed in the county.

Once completed, the FKF Technical Centre is expected to feature state-of-the-art pitches, training facilities, and capacity-building programmes for players, referees, and coaches — positioning Machakos as a premier football destination in Kenya.
