Mukaa Girls’ High School in Kilome Constituency, Makueni County, has emerged as one of the standout public girls’ institutions in the region following an impressive performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, with nearly three-quarters of its candidates attaining grades that qualify them for direct university admission.
According to the school’s official KCSE 2025 results analysis, a total of 235 candidates sat for the national examinations. Out of this number, 176 students, translating to 74.89 per cent, scored C+ and above, the minimum requirement for university entry under the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). The outcome marks one of the strongest academic performances in the school’s history and signals sustained academic growth.
Strong Mean Score Reflects Consistent Academic Progress
Mukaa Girls’ High School posted an overall mean score of 7.234, equivalent to a mean grade of C+, underscoring steady improvement in academic standards. The school further recorded a positive mean deviation of +0.434, a key indicator that the institution surpassed its previous academic benchmarks and made measurable gains compared to past KCSE cycles.
A positive mean deviation of this magnitude reflects effective curriculum delivery, targeted academic interventions, and improved learner outcomes across subjects.
IMPRESSIVE GRADE DISTRIBUTION, ZERO FAILURES RECORDED
The detailed grade distribution paints a picture of broad-based academic success:
A-: 4
B+: 8
B: 19
B-: 57
C+: 88
In addition, the school recorded candidates in the C and D+ categories, ensuring that all learners attained recognized KCSE grades.
Notably, no candidates scored grade E, nor were there any cases of X, Y, P, or U grades, a rare and commendable achievement that points to effective examination preparedness, learner discipline, and strong academic support systems.
Founded in 2003, Mukaa Girls’ High School is situated approximately five kilometres from Mombasa Road near Enzai Market, along the Salama–Nunguni Road in Kilome Constituency. The institution serves learners predominantly drawn from rural and semi-arid communities, many of whom face socio-economic challenges that can hinder academic performance.
Against this backdrop, the 2025 KCSE results represent a significant milestone, reinforcing the school’s growing reputation as a dependable academic institution and a beacon of opportunity for the girl child in Makueni County and beyond.
Leadership, Teamwork Credited for Success
The strong performance has been attributed to focused academic leadership under the stewardship of Principal Dr. Jackline Muthama, who officially certified the results.
According to the Principal Dr. Jackline Muthama, the success was the product of collective effort, anchored on teamwork, discipline, and deliberate academic planning.
Dr. Muthama noted that the school adopted strategic academic interventions, including enhanced subject analysis, remedial programs, regular assessments, mentorship initiatives, and close learner follow-up, all of which contributed to the improved outcomes.
Looking ahead, the Principal reiterated her commitment to raising academic standards further, improving the school’s mean score, and positioning Mukaa Girls’ High School as a Centre of Excellence in girl-child education.
She highlighted plans to strengthen instructional capacity, enhance learner support systems, and expand academic resources to ensure sustained improvement and competitiveness at both county and national levels.
A FIRM UPWARD ACADEMIC TRAJECTORY
