With 535 days remaining to the 2027 General Election, Machakos Gubernatorial Candidate Nzioka Waita has issued a clarion call to the youth, urging them to take a central role in shaping the county’s political and development agenda.
In a weekend message to residents, Waita encouraged Machakos people to embrace the moment for rest and reflection while remaining conscious of their civic responsibility. He emphasized that meaningful transformation will only be achieved through informed participation and collective action.
Addressing young men and women directly, Waita reminded them that they hold the numerical strength to determine leadership outcomes. He challenged the youth to move beyond being spectators in politics and instead become active participants—not just as voters, but as leaders willing to contest elective positions.
“Do not be scared or intimidated. You have the numbers to make it count,” he urged, noting that leadership will only change when new voices step forward.
The gubernatorial hopeful also called on eligible residents without voter cards to register at Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission centres across the county. He encouraged registered voters to mobilise peers, stressing that widespread voter registration is the foundation of accountable governance.
As the race takes shape, Waita’s message positions youth engagement, civic awareness, and inclusive leadership as key pillars of Machakos’ future. He concluded by urging residents to stay safe, hopeful, and united, reiterating that the journey to change begins long before election day.
Nzioka Waita, MGH, is seeking the Machakos Governorship in 2027, with a campaign increasingly focused on youth empowerment and people-driven leadership.
