Governor Wavinya Highlights Financial Accountability as Machakos County Records Clean Audit Reports

Machakos County Governor Hon. Wavinya Ndeti has reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to accountability and transparent financial management following positive audit outcomes for several county entities.

The Governor highlighted the progress while addressing the Senate Public Accounts Committee on the Auditor-General’s Report for the Financial Year 2024/2025, noting that consistent reforms and strengthened oversight systems have led to significant improvements in the county’s financial governance.

According to Governor Ndeti, the county has successfully secured clean audit reports in several key entities, reflecting prudent management of public resources and enhanced compliance with financial regulations.

The entities that recorded clean audit outcomes include:

Receiver of Revenue (RoR)

Machakos County Bursary Fund

Machakos County Climate Change Fund

Mwala Level IV Hospital

She explained that the improved audit performance is a direct result of deliberate measures undertaken by her administration to strengthen financial controls, enhance accountability mechanisms, and ensure that public funds are used responsibly.

The Senate Public Accounts Committee also acknowledged the Machakos County Government’s consistent cooperation with parliamentary oversight, noting that the county leadership has regularly honored Senate invitations whenever required.

The Auditor-General’s office further recognized the progress made by the county government in improving financial stewardship and accountability in the management of public funds.

Governor Ndeti emphasized that her administration remains committed to strengthening governance structures to ensure that transparency and accountability translate into tangible development outcomes for the people of Machakos County.
