Former Kitui Governor who is seeking Re-Election Charity Kaluki Ngilu has lauded Community-Based Financial Services Associations (FSAs) for their critical role in transforming lives through the provision of accessible, affordable, and timely financial services to wananchi.
Speaking during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Ikutha Financial Services Association (FSA) held in Ikutha Ward, Kitui South Sub-County earlier today, Ngilu praised the institution for supporting economic empowerment at the grassroots level, particularly among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Ngilu noted that community FSAs have become a lifeline for many families and entrepreneurs at a time when Kenyans are grappling with tough economic conditions. She said the financial solutions offered by the associations have enabled many traders and small businesses to remain operational, grow, and create livelihoods despite the prevailing economic challenges.
The former Kitui Governor, who is seeking a political comeback in the 2027 General Election, emphasized the importance of strengthening grassroots financial institutions to enhance economic inclusion and reduce poverty levels in rural communities.
The well-attended AGM brought together members and stakeholders from Ikutha, Kasaala, Kanziku, Kyoani, Kyandula, Muangeni, Kalivu, Athi, Timboni, Maluma, and Kibwezi regions, reflecting the growing influence and reach of the Ikutha FSA across Kitui South and neighboring areas.
