LISA “MAMA CHUI” CHRISTOFFERSEN & STEPHEN KASOLO GO HEAD-TO-HEAD AS MEMA 2026 RACE HEATS UP ACROSS KEY CATEGORIES

A thrilling showdown is taking shape at the MEMA Awards 2026 as Lisa Christoffersen, popularly known as “Mama Chui,” and gospel sensation Stephen Kasolo Kitole dominate early voting momentum in their respective categories, signaling one of the most competitive editions yet.
Kasolo has surged ahead in the Male Gospel Artist of the Year category, asserting his dominance just hours after voting opened. Known for his deeply rooted gospel sound inspired by Eastern Kenya’s traditions, his music continues to resonate widely, blending faith, life experiences, and hope. His early lead reflects a loyal and energized fanbase rallying strongly behind his ministry-driven artistry.

On the other hand, Mama Chui is making a powerful impact in the Top Influencer of the Year category, cementing her status as a dynamic force within Kenya’s creative economy. A celebrated TV actress and digital content creator, in addition to her authorship, entrepreneurship, and exploits in motorsport—including her bold presence in the Safari Rally—her multifaceted career has captured national attention. Her continued dominance in rally driving, a space largely dominated by men, distinguishes her as a trailblazer redefining influence and creativity.
As the two lead figures command attention, momentum is also building across other categories, highlighting the depth of talent in this year’s competition.

Mema Patron & One of the Most Powerful Preachers in Kenya and the region, known for Her innovative Daughters of Zion Ministry,Woman Without Limits Podcast and Her all time hit "Africa Yote Twakusifu, Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna is emerging strongly in the Women of Influence & Kingdom Leadership Award category, drawing support from faith-based communities across the region.
In the regional categories, Tabby Odanga is gaining ground in the Nyanza Artist of the Year category, reflecting growing recognition of Western Kenya’s vibrant music scene.
Meanwhile, Trudy Kitui continues to shine in the Digital Entertainment Journalist of the Year category, reinforcing her influence in shaping entertainment narratives in the digital space.

The gospel field remains particularly competitive, with artists like Deno Msifa gaining traction, while Janet Otieno leads the Female Gospel Artist category closely followed by Evelyn Wanjiru. In the Song of the Year race, “Nina Mpango na Wewe” by Papa Tomaso featuring Rose Muhando is attracting significant attention from voters.

Beyond the competition, MEMA is redefining the awards landscape by introducing an economic empowerment model aimed at transforming the creative industry. With initiatives such as a Music SACCO, healthcare support for artists, and a unique revenue-sharing structure where 25 percent of each vote directly benefits nominees, the platform is positioning itself as a game-changer in East Africa’s entertainment ecosystem.

As voting intensifies across the six-month window, the early dominance of Kasolo and Mama Chui sets the stage for a high-stakes battle driven by fan engagement, influence, and impact.

MEMA 2026 is proving to be more than just an awards ceremony—it is a powerful movement shaping the future of music, media, and creative enterprise across the region.
MEMA TO THE WORLD. MEMA CHANGING LIVES.
