Mavoko Member of Parliament and aspiring Machakos Governor for 2027, Hon. Patrick Makau, on Wednesday engaged leaders of Maendeleo ya Wanawake from across Machakos County, using the forum to outline his vision for inclusive development and transformative leadership.

The meeting, held during a workshop attended by women leaders from various parts of the county, provided an opportunity for discussions on governance, community development, and the role of women in shaping the future of Machakos.
Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Makau emphasized the importance of people-centered leadership, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through inclusive policies that address the needs of all residents. He said his vision for Machakos is anchored on economic empowerment, improved healthcare, modern infrastructure, quality education, job creation, and enhanced opportunities for women and youth.

The legislator reiterated his commitment to ensuring that development initiatives reach every corner of the county while creating an enabling environment for businesses and investments to thrive.
He described women as a critical pillar in the social and economic transformation of society, acknowledging the significant role they play in families, communities, and local development initiatives.

According to Makau, empowering women through targeted programs and increased participation in leadership and decision-making processes will be key to unlocking the county's full potential.

The women leaders used the occasion to share their views on various issues affecting communities, including economic challenges, access to services, and opportunities for youth and women empowerment. The discussions also explored ways in which leaders and community organizations can work together to accelerate development and improve livelihoods.
Hon. Makau commended the leadership of Maendeleo ya Wanawake for their continued commitment to grassroots development and social empowerment, saying the organization remains a vital partner in promoting community welfare and advancing the interests of women across the county.

He expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded to him and welcomed the candid discussions held during the workshop, noting that such engagements provide valuable insights into the aspirations and concerns of residents.

Political observers view the engagement as part of ongoing efforts by the Mavoko MP to strengthen his grassroots support network ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections. As political activity continues to gather momentum in Machakos County, leaders seeking elective positions have increasingly turned to community forums to articulate their development agendas and connect with voters.
