Busia County's Department of Trade, Industrialization, Cooperatives, SMEs, Energy and Tourism Promotion hosted team from West Pokot County led by County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Cooperatives, Industrialization and Energy William Petot.
The CECM West Pokot William Petot said together with his Chief Officer Musa Losiangole, Director Jacob Kapelile and Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Akaule Joel are on a mission to bench mark the strides Busia has taken since the ground breaking for construction of County Aggregated Industrial Park (CAIP).
"We are in Busia to learn on the way forward, the do's and the dont's, on how to present and urgue our case before our leaders. We are happy to see the strides Busia has taken, congratulations to Governor, H.E Dr.Paul Otuoma for the good work together with the national government," he said.
The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Trade, Industrialization, Cooperatives, SMEs, Energy and Tourism Promotion, Olakacuna Omuse thanked the West Pokot team for the visit.
"Welcome to Busia County, your visit is very important, Busia County has already kicked off construction of the CAIP and come February, the contractor promised to hand over the first phase," he revealed.
The Chief Officer Department of Trade, Industrialization, Cooperatives, SMEs, Energy and Tourism Promotion, Elijah Mwaro said the CAIP will boost the local economy, generate income, create job opportunities, and aggregation of cotton production, groundnuts, SimSim, Sunflower and Palm Oil.
"Ward Based Economic Revitalisation Program anchored on agricultural production such as cotton, edible oil crops e.g sunflower, groundnuts and simsim for raw material supply to Nasewa industrial Park for value addition has also started. Farmers have been given cotton seeds for planting," he explained.
Busia County in collaboration with the national government through the CAIPs aims at changing the economic well being of the residents.
