Renowned young environmentalist Kyee Mbatha, majorly known as Captain Green, was awarded the Climate Action Catalyst Champion 2024 Award , following his dedication to greening the country.
He has championed for Greening the environment for many years since he left university, having planted over 300, 000 trees in the Eastern region and the country at large, within the period.
Captain Green - Kyee Mbatha has been moving all round in efforts to help mitigate climate change effects in the country, planting more trees, leaving no space as a way of greening Kenya.
Formerly, Kyee Mbatha used to rent out his private car in exchange for mango seedlings to help fight climate change effects and help green Kenya.
For the long period, Kyee Mbatha has donated and planted trees of different species in different institutions in Kenya. Among them, institutions like secondary Schools, Colleges, Universities, government offices, and churches, among many other places.
"The climate in the Lower Eastern Region has changed and the only way to cope is by growing fruit trees that are known to survive in harsh climatic conditions.Atleast people will have something to eat and generate some income"- says Kyee Mbatha.
