Speaking to RADA TV KENYA on Tuesday evening, Machakos County Minister for education, Dr. Consollata Mutisya urged parents to take full responsibility for their children during this April holiday.
She said that during the holiday is when the parents should focus on mentoring their children , counselling, and guiding them on life facts accordingly.
"Our children have now closed schools for the April holiday. Take time, have a sit with your children , counsel, and talk with them on real-life facts to help build them strong for a promising future, " said Minister Dr. Consollata Mutisya
The Minister also said that during the holiday, it is a vital time for reflection on performance in academics, urging parents not to go blind on checking academic performances for their children, noting that it is a basic way of motivating them to work hard and help transform their lives.
She warned parents against leaving their children under the care of their relatives, saying that the world today has changed, and there is a need for each parent to take full responsibility for their children upbringing.
She called on parents to be good stewards of their children and usher them into a bright future by building their skills.
“An educated person is not the same as someone who has not gone to school. Every person requires education so that they can manage their future, " said Minister Dr. Consollata Mutisya
With the rains set in, Dr. Consollata Mutisya urged parents to take care of their children , noting the need for all children to be banned on playing in or around flooded areas to avoid the risk of losing lives.
"Monitor the whereabouts of your children every single minute! Don't just allow your children to play in areas that are not visible to your eyes. Ensure good watch of your children during this holiday season. The teachers have handed over your children in good condition. Take care of them, " added Minister Dr. Consollata Mutisya
