Not only drowning in rivers but also the rains could lead to increased bouts of sickness among them colds flu. Mutanu urges parents to be on the Lookout and keep their children warm, warn them not to play openly during rains, and avoid flooded areas.

Speaking to RADA TV KENYA today, Mutanu said that it's cheap to control children's common behaviours of playing in open grounds during rains rather than taking a risk of expenses, in case they fall sick .
She asked parents to protect their children from raging waters, occasioned by the ongoing rains.

Mutanu also said that it's high time during this period when children have closed school, parents should monitor their children's behaviours , provide counselling, and stop them from loitering along rivers.

Machakos residents are happy with her fruitful leadership. Mutanu vows to deliver accordingly to Machakos people, as she stated while taking oath of office.

Mutanu also revealed that the county government through the Department of Water has constructed many dams in Machakos as a way of increasing water supply in the county.

She revealed that most of the department's officers are on the ground inspecting the dams and even advising the within settled residents for a good number of the dams are on full to capacity.
The Minister also noted that Machakos hasn't been left behind in efforts of greening Kenya as per President William Ruto's 15 billion tree planting initiative, saying that the County government through the Department has been planting trees on various occasions to help mitigate climate change effects in Machakos and even Kenya at large.
