The land issues for Katelembu/Muputi Cooperative Society have been politicised for many years and left unsolved, but for just a few years period under Wilson Muema Masila's leadership as the Chairperson, Members can now afford a smile, for the historical land injustices will now come to an end.
The issuance of title deeds is currently ongoing, with over 1500 title deeds ready for collection. Indeed, it's history made.
The issuance of title deeds will enable the members to develop their land, practice farming, and carry on other income generating activities , in return raising their living standards and also developing Machakos County.
For Mwangangi Mutune, a member of the society, getting a title deed, is a dream come true.
"Am really happy that I now own my title deed after fighting to get it for many years. Chairperson Wilson Muema is a blessing to me and my family. If it were not for him, maybe I could still be fighting to secure my land. The fights are over following Muema Masila's intervention. "
Members now say they can afford a good night sleep
"It is a dream come true. We have waited for decades. We thank Muema Masila , the chairperson, for bringing our suffering to an end, "David , a member expressed
Members lauded Machakos County Commissioner Josephine Ouko, who stepped in, took time to investigate the Katelembu issues, and after finding the truth, gave good procedural guidance to the society members and the leadership, efforts that have seen title deeds issuance go on smoothly, for many are satisfied and happy.
The County Commissioner, Josephine Ouko, has several times had meetings with members and the leadership of the society to listen to their grievances. Her efforts have been politicised by many, but members' joy expresses it all.
Machakos Land Registrar Mdm Dorothy has played a key role in ensuring that no unprocedural title deeds are issued.
"We've had several meetings with Machakos Land Registrar, Dorothy, who has been guiding us accordingly on how the process should be carried on. I remember her telling us to always keenly check and confirm that no same plot number is allocated to different members because that has been the major members' cry, in the past, leadership " Wilson Muema, the society Chairperson Ellaborated.
However, with the juicy tilte deeds issuance exercise ongoing, there are five members of the society who just decided to always destabilise the exercise. The 5 have been moving from one office to another to seek to stop the exercise, for reasons that aren't adding up.
The "Team 5" members have been organising demonstrations from time to time to seek public sympathy .
The society Chairperson, Wilson Muema told Rada TV that the five members' intentions are unknown, for they skip crucial meetings when asked to attend and instead bring up dramas.
"You mean out of 3525 members of Katelembu, only 5 feel that I'm always wrong ? Let them open up and tell the public what they're after for, because it is not just land title deeds. it seems they have hidden agendas ," said Muema

The members of society fully support the construction of the Mega Miw'ongoni Dam, for they will have sufficient and accessible water for use once the dam is done.
Sadly, still, the "Team 5" members of Katelembu are trying to 'frustrate' the construction exercise for their own reasons. They want the construction of the Multi Billion Dam to stop, a dam that will benefit thousands of Machakos residents.
