"Every where you go, you find men and women running for hours, but they lack the necessary support in terms of training facilities," she said.

Ms. Trentham said DAB Africa is a social enterprise that works in developing talent and sports in Kenya and East Africa.
She reiterated the need for the establishment of sports academies at the grassroots to tap and nature talents among the youth.

Her sentiments were echoed by Frida Ndinda, who challenged the Machakos County Government to support young, talented youths by constructing sports grounds for various sports disciplines across the county.

The track and roads athlete in 10 and 5 kilometres races    paid tribute to sportpesa for supporting her with sh.0.5m under the jitemgemee initiative after her successful application.

Ndinda told journalists at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos town where she was unveiled as the winner of the sh.0.5m that she has her eyes on the 2028 Olympic games after missing out in the last games on technicalities.

She encouraged young men and female athletes to try their luck by applying for support from sportpesa.

Ms Ndinda who has competed in South Africa twice taking position two in one of the races said she would use the money to purchase training gear, pay for the training facilities including gym and other personal needs as she seeks to improve on her racing speed.

Her coach, William Koech, described her as a resilient and a focused athlete with a bright future considering her age.

Deborah Chepkurui of sportpesa regretted that many sportsmen and women were struggling due to a lack of facilities and equipment to measure their talent.

"We want to support young talents through the jiamini initiative to take them to the next level," said Debra.
