Machakos DG Francis Mwangangi Commissions Kiuukuni-Kwamusilu Road Murraming Project in Katangi

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi Kilonzo has officially commissioned the Murraming of Kiuukuni-Kwamusilu Road in Katangi, Yatta Sub-County, marking a significant milestone in the county’s infrastructure development.

Speaking during the event, Deputy Governor Mwangangi emphasized the project's importance in enhancing mobility and fostering economic growth in the region.

"This project will greatly improve mobility, boosting economic undertakings for our people. Our administration remains committed to improving the road network to facilitate trade and ease transportation for residents," he said.
The murraming project, which has been prioritized as part of the county government’s road improvement agenda, aims to provide better access for farmers, traders, and commuters who rely on the road for their daily activities.

Residents of Kiuukuni and Kwamusilu villages expressed their gratitude for the initiative, noting that the road had long been in poor condition, making travel difficult, especially during the rainy season.

"For years, we have struggled with impassable roads, especially when it rains. This project is a game-changer, and we thank the county government for finally addressing our plight," said James Mutuku, a boda boda rider from Katangi.
Local traders also lauded the move, highlighting how improved roads would enhance access to markets and reduce transport costs.

"With better roads, we can now transport our farm produce to Matuu and Machakos markets with ease. This will boost our earnings and improve our livelihoods," remarked Martha Ndunge, a local vegetable vendor.

County officials present at the commissioning assured residents of continued infrastructure development in the area.
"This is just the beginning. We have more projects lined up across Yatta Sub-County to ensure accessibility and connectivity for all residents,"

Deputy Governor Mwangangi reaffirmed Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s dedication to service delivery and called on residents to support development initiatives.

"Tuzidi kuchapa kazi. Let’s work together to transform our county and uplift the lives of our people," he concluded.
The commissioning of the Kiuukuni-Kwamusilu Road project comes as part of Machakos County's broader infrastructural agenda, which includes road rehabilitation, street lighting, and bridge construction to enhance socio-economic development.
