A wave of hope and inspiration swept through Machakos School as 1,291 Wings to Fly and Elimu scholars converged for the Equity Group Foundation’s (EGF) 16th Annual Education and Leadership Congress – Machakos Region. The event, part of a week-long series held across the country, carries the theme “The Innovation Generation: Igniting Ideas, Creating Impact.”
The congress is a signature initiative by EGF aimed at nurturing future leaders by equipping them with mentorship, leadership training, and a strong sense of social responsibility. This year’s edition has brought together a total of 18,442 scholars nationwide, including 2,512 refugee scholars, reflecting the program’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Addressing the scholars as Chief Guest, Machakos University Vice Chancellor Joyce Agalo delivered an inspiring message on authentic leadership. “Leadership starts from within. It’s about empowering others, inspiring action, leading change, and sharing a bold vision. Leadership isn’t a performance, it’s a way of life,” she said.
The scholars, drawn from diverse backgrounds, are set to benefit from a holistic program that goes beyond academics to include character building, innovation, and civic engagement—skills necessary to drive transformation in their communities and beyond.
The congress reaffirms Equity Group Foundation’s long-standing commitment to education and leadership development as a tool for social impact and national progress.
