Speaking during the Chrism Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Machakos, Mwangangi condemned recent incidents of political chaos, including the disruption of a church service attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
"It is inhuman and a lack of respect for the church," said Mwangangi. "Leaders must respect each other. Today you're in power, tomorrow you're out."He called on political leaders to embrace tolerance and avoid divisive rhetoric that threatens national unity.
Mwangangi also criticized two unnamed Kalenjin leaders for their remarks that President William Ruto cannot be a one-term president.
"It’s unfortunate that some leaders are going around saying Kenya has never had a one-term president. That’s not a justification. We are currently the second most corrupt country in Africa, and Kenyans are uniting to send him home," he stated. On the tragic death of General Francis Ogolla, Kenya's Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Mwangangi said the country is still in shock.
"It’s historical and shocking that a chopper carrying the CDF crashed just minutes after takeoff. We mourn a true patriot," he said.
The Chrism Mass, led by Bishop Norman King’oo, brought together priests from across the Machakos Diocese for the blessing of holy oils and renewal of priestly vows, a significant moment in the Catholic Holy Week celebrations.
