The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has launched investigations into alleged misuse of office at the Machakos County Assembly.
On Wednesday, detectives from the commission’s Lower Eastern Region office visited the assembly premises, where they reportedly spent several hours gathering documents and holding closed-door sessions, including a meeting with Speaker Ann Kiusya.
Their presence was confirmed by EACC headquarters' Head of Communications, Stephen Karuga, following an inquiry by The County Champion.
A letter dated April 8, 2025, and signed by the Commission's Lower Eastern Regional Manager Robert Wachira, directed the Assembly Clerk to provide 11 key documents to aid the ongoing probe.
This development comes just days after EACC officers searched the office and residences of County Finance Minister Onesmus Kuyu over separate corruption allegations.
