The Speaker of the County Assembly of Machakos, Hon. Anne Kiusya, today hosted a high-level delegation from the Commission on Administrative Justice (Ombudsman Kenya) at County Hall in a courtesy call aimed at enhancing public accountability and access to information.

The delegation, led by Commission CEO Ms. Mercy Wambua and supported by the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) program, engaged the Assembly in critical discussions centered on the domestication of the Complaint Handling Policy and the County Access to Information Act.
Hon. Kiusya emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to good governance, stating that Machakos is actively working on draft policies geared towards establishing strong grievance redress mechanisms and ensuring transparency in public service delivery.

“The County Assembly of Machakos remains committed to promoting good governance through responsive legislation,” said the Speaker. “We are keen on enacting laws that ensure citizens have access to information and reliable platforms for lodging and resolving complaints.”
The meeting was attended by the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Denis Mutui, Assembly staff, and members of the visiting delegation. Both parties expressed their willingness to collaborate further in adopting best practices in public grievance management.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing citizen engagement, strengthening oversight, and building public trust in county institutions.
