Machakos Celebrates Major Leap in Clean Energy with Launch of ROAM Electric’s Regional Outlet

In a significant move towards a greener future, Machakos County has today marked a major milestone with the launch of ROAM Electric’s regional outlet for electric motorcycles. The initiative is a bold step in Kenya’s journey toward clean energy, sustainable transport, and climate resilience.

Presiding over the event, Machakos Governor Hon. Wavinya Ndeti hailed the development as a transformative win for the county and a beacon of progress in the fight against climate change.
“The launch of ROAM Electric’s regional outlet for electric motorcycles here in Machakos is not only a win for our county, it’s a progressive step in safeguarding our environment, promoting electric mobility, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels,” said Governor Ndeti. “This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to addressing climate change, fostering innovation, and building a resilient, green economy.”

The new facility by ROAM Electric is expected to boost the local economy, create green jobs, and make clean transport more accessible to thousands of residents. The company’s electric motorcycles offer a sustainable alternative to petrol-driven transport, significantly lowering carbon emissions and operational costs for riders.
Governor Ndeti also used the platform to reaffirm Machakos County’s openness to partnerships and investments that support sustainable development.

“Machakos remains open for transformative investments; Machakos is the place to invest,” she emphasized.

As Kenya ramps up its efforts to meet its climate goals and transition to a low-carbon economy, initiatives like ROAM Electric’s expansion play a critical role in shaping a cleaner, more prosperous future for all.
