In a significant boost to local security, Ndalani Ward MCA and aspiring Yatta MP, Hon. Francis Kitaka, has led the successful repair of the 'Mulika Mwizi' security lights at Kisiiki Market, in collaboration with the County Government of Machakos.
The initiative is part of a broader campaign by Hon. Kitaka to enhance safety in public spaces and support economic activity within the ward.
“As leaders, we must be proactive in addressing the real needs of our people. Functional street lighting is not just about visibility—it’s about security, dignity, and economic empowerment,” said Hon. Kitaka.
He added: “We are committed to ensuring that all our street lights are functional. This is just the beginning. More markets and residential areas will soon benefit from similar improvements.”
Local traders and residents have lauded the move, describing it as timely and impactful.
“For a long time, this market was a target for petty criminals due to poor lighting. We now feel safer and can extend our business hours,” said Mama Nduku, a trader at Kisiiki Market.
The restoration of lights is expected to not only curb insecurity but also stimulate nighttime business activities, creating a safer and more vibrant environment for all.
