Ndalani Ward MCA Hon. Francis Kitaka, who has declared his interest in the Yatta Parliamentary seat, has officially launched the inaugural Hon. Kitaka Cup — a transformative football tournament aimed at nurturing youth talent and promoting positive community engagement through sports.
The event, to be held at Kisiiki Green Stadium, from tomorrow, will kick off with preliminary matches followed by quarterfinals on April 19th, and will culminate with playoffs and finals on April 20th.
In an exclusive interview with RADA TV, Hon. Kitaka emphasized that the tournament goes beyond the pitch.
"Through the Hon. Kitaka Cup, I am redefining youth empowerment by creating safe spaces where young people can showcase their talents, cultivate discipline, and develop a strong sense of teamwork and resilience," he stated.
To incentivize participation, attractive prizes have been lined up: the winning team will take home Ksh 20,000, runners-up Ksh 15,000, and the third-place team Ksh 10,000. Additionally, each winner from the five sub-locations will receive Ksh 5,000, and every participating team will be given a ball.
Hon. Kitaka added that the tournament is a community-driven initiative designed to steer the youth away from negative influences while providing them with a platform to grow, learn, and remain focused on their life goals.
"This is more than a competition; it's a deliberate effort to invest in our youth and lay a strong foundation for a more empowered and productive generation," he concluded.
