Dr. Ezekiel Mutua Champions Power of Gospel Music at Spirit-Charged ‘Worship in the Wilderness’ Experience

A wave of spiritual awakening swept through GCI Church Utawala today during the Worship in the Wilderness Live Experience — a vibrant and deeply moving worship gathering that brought together key religious leaders, public figures, corporate partners, and celebrated gospel musicians in a unifying moment of praise, reflection, and national inspiration.

The event was graced by the CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, who not only attended but actively participated in encouraging the role of gospel music in national transformation and moral rebirth.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mutua emphasized the urgent need to restore Kenya’s values through faith-based content and gospel artistry.

"What we are witnessing here tonight is more than music. It is revival. Gospel music is not just entertainment — it is a weapon of truth, healing, and hope. If we want to fix our nation, we must begin here, in worship," said Dr. Mutua.

The event, hosted by Pastor Tumaini Akilimali, was themed around finding strength and divine direction in life’s “wilderness seasons.” It was a call to return to God in times of crisis — personally and as a nation.

Also present were Rev. Dr. Jane Mwikali Makau, Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board; Rev. Titus Katembu; Turkana First Lady Lilian Ekamaisi; Apostle David Owusu; Rev. Mburu; MCSK Chairman Ephantus Wahome; and former Chairman Bernard Mukaisi. Their presence signaled a strong institutional and interdenominational support for faith-centered initiatives in the country.
A unique corporate spiritual partnership was also seen in the participation of representatives from Dama wa Dama Mobile Spares, blending business with ministry support.

Musically, the night was electric. Worshippers were led into powerful praise sessions by Kenya’s top gospel artists including Evelyn Wanjiru, Wilberforce Musyoka, Min Burton King, Lady B, Fred Omondi, and Kestine Mbogo. Their performances were not just melodic but carried deep spiritual messages of breakthrough, healing, and restoration.

Apostle David Owusu delivered a prophetic word urging Kenyans to anchor their hope in God’s promises, especially during turbulent seasons. Rev. Dr. Jane Mwikali Makau challenged believers to rise in moral leadership and take positions of influence with integrity and faith.

The Worship in the Wilderness Live Experience has quickly evolved into a national spiritual platform that merges worship, leadership, talent, and transformation. It is not just an event — it is becoming a movement for believers seeking God's intervention in a country navigating political, economic, and moral challenges.

As the final prayer was said and the church resonated with united voices of thanksgiving, it was clear that Worship in the Wilderness had not only gathered a crowd — it had sparked a fire.
