MACHAKOS GOVERNOR WAVINYA ROOTS FOR FULL DEVOLUTION FUNDING, YOUTH ENGAGEMENT AND RURAL EMPOWERMENT

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has renewed calls for full devolution funding by the National Government, stressing that adequate financial support is essential for counties to deliver on their constitutional mandate.

Speaking during a public empowerment event at Kibauni Ward in Mwala Sub-county, Governor Wavinya emphasized that meaningful service delivery and job creation can only be realized if counties receive their rightful share of resources.

“If counties are given funds the right way, we will be able to provide job opportunities and deliver services effectively. When the National Government works hand in hand with counties, real change will be seen,” said Governor Wavinya.
At the event, she also championed youth inclusion in national development, urging government agencies to listen and respond to the aspirations of the younger generation.

“It is important to listen to our youth and address their challenges. They are the majority and the future of this country,” she added.

The Governor distributed a range of agricultural empowerment items to various self-help groups and farmers, underlining her commitment to grassroots economic transformation. The items included 1,824 Galla goats for 76 farmer groups, 2,303 improved Kienyeji chicks and chick mash for four groups, farm inputs, dam liners for fish ponds, vegetable seeds, fruit trees, pesticides, and chain link fencing.

In Kiunduani Sub-location, at least 100 farmers benefitted from dam liners, fruit trees, and fingerlings — a clear demonstration of the County Government’s push for irrigation, agroforestry, and aquaculture to boost local livelihoods.

“I will continue empowering our people through practical initiatives as I promised,” she affirmed.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support. Elizabeth Musyoki, a local resident, said the chicks she received will be a game-changer.

“These chickens will help me get eggs, meat, and extra income to pay school fees and cater to household needs. Thank you, Governor Wavinya,” she said.

Janet Mutisya, the chairlady of Muyo Women Group, lauded the distribution of Galla goats, saying they will enhance food production and income through milk, meat, and manure.

The event also took a political tone as Governor Wavinya, alongside Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, urged the Kamba community to rally behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s 2027 presidential bid, calling for unity and strategic support for one of their own.

Governor Wavinya continues to position her administration as a key player in advancing devolution, youth inclusion, and rural empowerment in Machakos County.
