Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has condemned what he termed as the unconstitutional use of under age school children in ongoing demonstrations, warning political actors against involving minors in street protests.
Speaking during a public engagement forum in Kambu, Kibwezi East, Hon. Mutuse criticized recent incidents where children have reportedly been used in politically motivated demonstrations during their mid-term school break.
“It is unconstitutional, illegal, immoral, and evil to use school children — who are not in a position to exercise their free will — in political protests,” he said.
The legislator also issued a strong warning to those he accused of attempting to use violence and destruction to achieve political goals, stating that such tactics will not succeed against him or other focused leaders.
“Anyone thinking that violence or destruction of private property will intimidate me into submission is mistaken,” said Mutuse. “I remain focused. My agenda is pro-people, pro-poor — not about appeasing certain individuals.”
In a sharp-toned message, the MP urged leaders to uphold ethical standards and protect the future of the country by keeping children out of political games.
“Dragging minors into political activities is not only irresponsible but also destructive to the nation's future. Those doing so must stop immediately,” he added.
Mutuse also took a veiled jab at his critics, quoting an old adage: “Do not argue with a mad person, for people may not know the difference.”
His remarks come amid heightened political activity across the country, with multiple reports of protests turning chaotic and calls for accountability increasing.
