The empowerment event, held in Mukuyuni, was graced by none other than Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and featured a strong lineup of political heavyweights including Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, Deputy Majority Leader (National Assembly) Owen Baya, and MPs Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Mbithi Mwalyo (Masinga), and Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda. Also present was the President’s Aide Farouk Kibet, several Members of the Makueni County Assembly, and hundreds of grassroots leaders and women group representatives.
PS Terry Mbaika, who has expressed her interest in unseating the incumbent MP Joshua Kimilu, used the opportunity to showcase her leadership, commitment, and unmatched mobilization capacity. Despite not being an elected leader, her consistent efforts to empower women groups, connect communities, and lobby for national government resources have begun to shift the political tide in her favour. The Deputy President, while addressing the energized crowd, praised the government's ongoing investments in agriculture, infrastructure, and electrification in Makueni County — including Kaiti Constituency, where 305 million shillings is being used to connect more households to electricity. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving rural economies through the construction of 400 modern and fresh produce markets, including markets in Makueni that will feature cold storage, ICT hubs, and spaces for small-scale traders.
Also highlighted was the allocation of resources to complete stalled road projects like the Kasikeu–Nunguni Road, which will enhance movement of goods and people in the region. However, the biggest highlight of the day was the resounding reception PS Mbaika received from residents, many of whom openly expressed a shift in support from the sitting MP to the PS, citing her tangible impact, even without holding an elective office.
"Terry anatuonyesha kazi hata kabla hajakuwa mbunge. Huyu ndiye tunataka 2027,” said one local woman leader during the event.
The electrifying event has left no doubt that Terry Mbaika has raised the bar for the Kaiti parliamentary contest, sending a clear signal that the political landscape is shifting — and fast.As 2027 draws closer, many in Kaiti now view Terry Mbaika not just as a PS, but as a rising leader who is already delivering change — and winning hearts.
