MP Mwengi Mutuse Urges Ukambani to Embrace Government Collaboration, Citing Luo Nyanza Progress

Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse has called on the people of Ukambani to emulate the political maturity of the Luo Nyanza region by working with the government of the day for the sake of development.

Speaking during a high-energy public event in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, Hon. Mutuse acknowledged the notable development strides being made in the region, especially in the sugar sector reforms, infrastructure, and public appointments. He attributed this progress to the strategic cooperation between the local leadership and the administration of President William Ruto.
“Siasa mbaya maisha mbaya,” said the legislator, emphasizing that no community understands this better than the Luo people. “That’s why Baba—despite being the fiercest competitor to the last four Presidents—has always found a framework for working with the Government in power,” he added.

Hon. Mutuse praised the Muhoroni residents for embracing ongoing reforms in the sugar industry, which he noted are already yielding employment opportunities and economic empowerment. He also commended President Ruto’s efforts in improving road networks, expanding electricity coverage, and appointing qualified individuals from the region to key government positions.
Encouraging the Kamba community to adopt a similar approach, Mutuse urged leaders and residents from Ukambani to set aside political rivalry and prioritize development partnerships.

“I appeal to my people in Ukambani to borrow a leaf from the people of Nyanza. Work with this Government to uplift our communities. After all, the majority voted for Raila,” he remarked.

The event in Muhoroni was marked by a mammoth turnout and a charged atmosphere, with the MP expressing his gratitude in Dholuo: “Ero kamano Jothurwa.”

Hon. Mutuse’s remarks come at a time when national discourse is leaning toward inclusive development and political reconciliation, with leaders across the divide increasingly advocating for unity and progress-driven engagements.
