Machakos County has unveiled a new Inspectorate Department structure aimed at strengthening efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.
The reforms were announced during a strategic meeting chaired by the County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Dr. Muya Ndambuki, who represented the county leadership in briefing senior officers from the Department of Inspectorate.
Under the new framework, the Inspectorate will now be led by two commanders, both reporting directly to the Chief Officer for Inspectorate Services.
The first commander will oversee Infrastructure and County Assets, supported by a deputy tasked with protecting and safeguarding public infrastructure such as county offices, health facilities, boreholes, roads, dams, and public spaces.
The second commander will take charge of Operations, Traffic, Prosecution, and Investigation, with support from three deputies: Deputy Commander for Operations and Ceremonial Functions, Deputy Commander for Traffic, Prosecution, and Investigation and Deputy Commander for Administration
Dr. Ndambuki emphasized that the realignment is designed to streamline operations and enhance efficiency, ensuring that the Inspectorate Department delivers the highest standard of service to Machakos residents.
“This marks a new chapter in the management of public assets, law enforcement, and county operations. Our priority is to ensure the people of Machakos receive effective, transparent, and reliable services,” Dr. Ndambuki said.
The new structure signals a stronger commitment by the county to modernize public service systems, safeguard resources, and improve order and compliance across Machakos.
