Kibwezi West Member of Parliament, Hon. Mwengi Mutuse, OGW, has applauded President William Samoei Ruto for key economic reforms that are directly benefiting farmers and ordinary citizens across the country.
Speaking during an engagement forum with boda boda riders in Kathiani Constituency, Hon. Mutuse thanked the operators for their warm reception and took the opportunity to highlight the transformation being experienced in the agriculture and education sectors under the Kenya Kwanza government.
“Not long ago, coffee farmers were earning a mere Ksh. 30 per kilogram, and payments were made once a year. Today, the same coffee fetches over Ksh. 80 per kilogram, and farmers are being paid monthly. This is progress worth acknowledging,” said Mutuse.
He also cited the sharp drop in fertilizer prices—from Ksh. 7,500 to Ksh. 2,500 per 50kg bag—as a major boost to small-scale farmers. He noted that, in addition to cheaper inputs, the government is also distributing quality seedlings to enhance productivity.
“These are not political slogans. These are real, measurable results that Kenyans are experiencing on the ground. That’s why we urge you to support President Ruto and ignore politicians with no meaningful development record,” he stated.
On matters education, Hon. Mutuse commended the Head of State for lowering university fees, a move he said had made higher education more accessible to students from underprivileged families.
He concluded by expressing his gratitude to the people of Kathiani and assured them of continued engagement:
“Asanteni sana Kathiani. Nitarudi tena,” he said.
