Yatta MP Robert Basil Commissions Kyua Water Project

Yatta Member of Parliament, Hon. Robert Basil, has commissioned the Kyua Water Project, a landmark development that will provide clean and reliable water to St. Bakhita Kyua Secondary School, Kyua Market, and Kyaani Village. The project is set to benefit thousands of residents who have long faced water shortages.

During the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Basil described the project as a game-changer for the community, noting that water is a foundation for healthier families, stronger schools, and thriving businesses. He reaffirmed his commitment to addressing key needs in Yatta through sustainable development.
Students and teachers at St. Bakhita Kyua Secondary School welcomed the project with great relief. They noted that access to water within the school will improve sanitation, ease the burden on learners who previously fetched water from far, and enhance the overall learning environment.

The business community at Kyua Market also hailed the project as a major boost. Traders emphasized that clean and readily available water will support hygiene standards, boost food-related enterprises, and create an enabling environment for small businesses to grow.
In Kyaani Village, residents expressed their gratitude, noting that the facility will help curb waterborne diseases that had affected families in the past. Community elders pledged to safeguard the project and ensure it is maintained for the benefit of future generations.
Hon. Basil emphasized that the Kyua Water Project is part of his broader agenda to transform Yatta constituency through targeted investments in health, education, water, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. “We are moving Yatta forward one project at a time,” he affirmed.

The commissioning ceremony drew a large crowd of residents, school leaders, and traders, all of whom praised the MP’s dedication to service delivery. The Kyua Water Project now stands as a beacon of progress, hope, and improved livelihoods for the people of Yatta.
